The main cost drivers
| Factor | Why it matters | How to lower it |
|---|---|---|
| Volume of material | More plastic costs more and takes longer. | Thinner walls where safe, ribs instead of solid blocks. |
| Print time | Taller parts and fine layers take more machine time. | Allow coarser layers on non-cosmetic parts. |
| Supports | Support material and removal add time and labour. | Flat bases, 45° chamfers, fewer overhangs. |
| Material | Engineering materials cost more than PLA or PETG. | Use the least demanding material that meets the need. |
| Tolerances & finish | Tight tolerances and cosmetic finishing add care and inspection. | Only mark dimensions that truly matter. |
| Quantity | Setup and review are shared across more parts. | Order the batch together rather than one at a time. |
| Shipping | Destination, size, and speed. | Allow standard delivery where possible. |
Why we don’t show an instant price
Instant calculators price geometry, not purpose. They can’t tell that a part needs a tougher material, a better orientation, or a design tweak to print reliably — so the cheapest instant price is sometimes a part that doesn’t work. Every NanoArc3D quote is reviewed by a person, is free, and shows the full total before you decide.

Questions
How much does it cost to 3D print a part?+
It depends on size, material, print time, supports, finishing, quantity, and shipping. Upload your STEP file for a free written quote showing the full price.
Why is 3D printing expensive for large parts?+
Large parts use more material and much more machine time, and taller parts take longer because each layer is printed separately.
Is it cheaper to order more parts at once?+
Usually yes. Review and setup costs are spread across the batch, so the per-part price tends to fall as quantity rises.
